Gayby (SIFF 2012)

Gayby introduces us to Jenn and Matt, best friends since college and both still single in their 30’s. Jenn desperately wants a baby, but hasn’t found the right guy to settle down with. Matt is also looking for the right guy to settle down with, but loves the idea of being a father. They decide to make a baby together, while each still pursuing their own “Mr. Right”. Matt and Jenn’s relationship is sweet and believable, and their interactions with friends, co-workers, and numerous dates provide plenty of laughs as well. Writer/director/actor Jonathan Lisecki conceived of quick-talking, intelligent characters who have a lot to say and don’t talk down to the audience. The film is full of witty conversations filled with contemporary vernacular and a lot of great comedy. The casting of the core players was perfect with real chemistry and comfort between the actors. Definitely worth a watch!
